Ghost tucked her outstretched hand back under the cover and hauled himself off the floor and into the chair opposite the sofa. He swiveled it to face the back of the plane. Stephanee knew him and she saw everything. As her skills developed, she would see even more. He needed to get her through her training and run as fast as he could. She’d been through hell, and and she deserved a chance to have a normal life now that she had finally been able to release her secrets. She didn’t need his fucked-up life to weigh her down. He was going to have to ask Pierce for an overseas placement so he could get as far away from her as possible.

He heard a soft psst sound and turned around to see André waving for him to come and sit with them. Getting up, he stopped long enough to pour himself a cup of coffee in one of the few remaining unbroken mugs, and then went to sit behind André. “What do you have?”

“Pierce has detained Evans. He had to send someone else out to the house to stay with Shay as Calvin is on his way to the office to deal with Evans, and he’s not happy. They're pulling every case Evans has ever worked on. Pierce is glad both Petra and Granny are not there. The man’s days are limited.”

“Where’s this Jessie actress? She encouraged him to rape Stephanee.”

Katrina spoke, “She was one of those child stars who couldn’t make the transition from child to adult fame and overdosed about four years ago. I remember the headlines.” Katrina looked back at Stephanee. “Do we need to arrange therapy for her? Emotional traumas like that will play havoc on her while she’s training.”

Ghost thought about it for a few moments. “No. She is much further along with her magic than anyone has realized. She’s also done the rigorous courses of therapy. What she needs now is time to grow. She has been sheltered and protected but now needs to start making her own decisions.”

“Ghost, her biggest decision is she wants you,” André stated.

“Well, it’s a good thing she’s going to mature because that’s the one thing she can’t have. She has a teenager's crush, and she’ll soon learn I’m not what she wants.” Both Katrina and André started to argue, but Ghost raised his hand. “Stop. We’re not discussing this. Once we are have sure she is stable, and Pierce finds better trainers for her, I’m leaving. She doesn’t need me. It is an adolescent dream and she’ll grow out of it.”

“Ghost…” Katrina and André tried to say something.

He wanted the conversation to stop, so he swiveled his chair just enough to cut off any the discussion, emphasizing he’d had enough. Looking out the window, he noted the the sky’s midnight blue hues with only the faintest hint of stars far off in the distance. There would be no training tonight. They would get up early the next morning and work, and hopefully, by the end of the next day, Pierce would have new trainers on the way.
